Masters in Physiology and cell biology of plants

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of South Bohemia Ceske Budejovice

Program Overview

The course provides an education in plant physiology from developmental processes at the molecular level to physiological ecology. Emphasis is placed on the theoretical foundations of biochemistry and biotechnology of photosynthetic processes and the interaction of plants with their environment. The program is implemented at the Department of Experimental Plant Biology, whose research is mainly focused on the photosynthesis of higher plants, algae and cyanobacteria, plant-atmosphere interaction (gas exchange and its regulation, development and function of stomata), the water regime of plants (the structure and function of the leaf cuticle, hydraulic architecture of the plant), interaction of plants with microorganisms, transcriptomics of genes involved in development or stress response, ecophysiology of bryophytes, but also the development of devices and new detection methods in plant physiology, all in close cooperation with the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
