Program Overview

The master's program Marine Ecosystem and Fishery Sciences offers a unique combination of basic and applied research within the marine sciences in the research fields of biological oceanography and fisheries science. The study course conveys basic knowledge and allows the further specialization in a subdiscipline. Students will learn how to analyze the functioning of marine ecosystems using a combined research approach of observations, experiments, and numerical models, and how knowledge is used in forecasting models. The program uses the very good integration of the Institute of Hydrobiology and Fisheries Science (IHF) into the international research community. Students can use the contacts of the IHF to universities and major research institutions in Europe and North America.
