Program Overview

The field of scientific computing addresses the mathematical modelling and efficient numerical computation of complex problems from technology, economics, and the natural sciences. Today's product research and development would be unthinkable without numerical simulations using computers. Specific applications of scientific computing range from crash tests to electromagnetic compatibility, optimization of fuel cells, calculating prices of financial derivatives, and the simulation of biological processes. This new international degree programme in mathematics will enable the University of Bayreuth to prepare highly talented students for future challenges in the field of numerical simulation.

Degree with an examination grade of 1.9 or better in a bachelor's programme in the subject areas of mathematics, computer science, the natural sciences, or engineering at the University of Bayreuth, or an equivalent degree, Degree and School Leaving Certificates and Transcripts, German language proficiency test for international university applicants DSH with a result of at least DSH 1, Test of German as a foreign language,Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache, TestDaF with a result of at least 14 points - no part under TDN 3, SD Zertifikat B2, Goethe-Zertifikat B2, telc Deutsch B2, B2 certificate IIK Bayreuth, certificate of the internal German language exam of the University of Bayreuth with Result corresponds to the DSH 1 level, English Language requirements: TOEFL 95 points, IELTS Academic minimum score of 6,5, Cambridge Certificate: First Certificate in English FCE, Proof can also be provided by submitting a German Abitur certificate if it certifies an English level of B2.
