Program Overview

The Master Program in Literary Translation is offered in two variants: either with one source language English, Spanish, or French or two English + Spanish, French, or Italian. In both variants the target language for translation is German. Over four semesters, both theoretical and practical sides of translation will be highlighted while accruing knowledge within literary- and cultural studies from the relevant source languages. Graduates of the program will be prepared for professional employment as a literary translator.

Bachelors degree program Minimum grade average 2,5 and a German university entrance qualification, and record of grades and subjects, School-leaving certificate original language version plus a German translation issued by a sworn translator; certificates issued in English and French do not need to be translated, Proof of academic performance to date and Bachelors Degree certificate where applicable original language version plus a German translation issued by a sworn translator; DSH certificate DSH 2/3 or equivalent proof of language proficiency, Preparatory College Studienkolleg in Germany: University entrance assessment test Feststellungspr fung certificate with a summary of subjects and grades, If you have already started a study programme at a German university: include the current certificate of enrolment from that university indicating the subject, intended degree and number of semesters, Holders of an International Baccalaureate (IB) must also include copies of certificates from the last two years of school indicating subjects and grades, as well as a certificate confirming 12 years of school attendance, Marriage certificate or corresponding proof, Proficiency in English Language Requirements: TOEFL pBT min 500 points, cBT min 200 points, or iBT, min 80 points, IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0, Cambridge B2 First Certificate, formerly known as Cambridge English: First FCE
