Program Overview

The degree program Romance Linguistics imparts extensive knowledge in the field of analysis and description of two Romance languages (selectable: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan), their structures and functions. Particular emphasis will be placed on the areas of language acquisition research, language teaching research, cognitive linguistics, contact linguistics, language typology, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, language psychology, empirical linguistics and media linguistics. There is the possibility of individual focus training in the areas of structure of Romance languages (rather theoretical) or language development and language variation (rather empirically oriented).

A first professional qualifying degree from a German or recognized foreign university in Romance Linguistics (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Romanian), or a defined number of credit points in one of the named subjects, CV, Transcript of records, TOEFL ibT of 92, C1 Advanced of 180 , letter of motivation, English skills , IELTS of 6.5
