MA in Sinology

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of Hamburg

Program Overview

The master's program serves to deepen the linguistic, professional and methodological knowledge, but above all to increase the ability to work independently. An integral part of the Master's program is also a semester abroad at a Chinese or European partner university. In addition to the methodically reflected handling of Chinese sources, the focus will be on theoretical approaches to cultural studies and the history of concepts and ideas. As a student, you acquire the ability to evaluate transdisciplinary theoretical concepts from a sinological perspective and make them usable for specific research questions. The systematic orientation to questions - not to agreed answers - finally leads to the Master's thesis, in which you scientifically work on a topic of your choice.
