Program Overview

Mineralogy researches the material, that is, the mineral and chemical composition of the crystalline structures of the earth in the form of minerals and rocks, including new materials and materials, in the size range from nanometers to kilometers. Geochemistry studies the chemical composition of minerals and rocks and the effects of mining and industrial activities on the environment. The master's degree in mineralogy is divided into a compulsory area and a compulsory elective area, in which it is possible to set priorities depending on your interests, as well as attending events in other geosciences. During the first two semesters, courses on various mineralogical, geochemical and petrological topics are offered, e.g. B. Mineral Resources, Petrology, Crystallography or geochemistry. In the last two semesters, the course is completed with a research and project module and a master's thesis. In this context, the close contacts to business and industry are important.
