Program Overview

The subject of Dutch Studies in the 2-subject master's program is divided into four sub-areas: literary and cultural studies, linguistics, regional studies Netherlands and Belgium and language practice. Through the introduction to research projects and through the obligatory semester abroad, students of the master's program should be strengthened in their foreign culture and intercultural skills as well as in their problem-solving behavior. The possibility of a regional specialization is realized in close cooperation with the Institute for Lower Rhine Cultural History and Regional Development of the UDE.

Additional Information & Requirements

Bachelors program at the University of Duisburg-Essen or a degree in the field of Dutch language and culture/Dutch Studies/ Netherlands Studies, overall grade of the degree must usually be at least 2.5 or better, Proficiency in English Language Requirements: TOEFL pBT min 500 points, cBT min 200 points, or iBT, min 80 points, IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0, Cambridge B2 First Certificate, formerly known as Cambridge English: First FCE, Foreign applicants are required to provide evidence of German proficiency to DSH 2 level, evidence of your proficiency in German:German language test for entrance to higher education with an overall level of at least DSH 2, German language diploma level II of the KMK Standing Conference DSD II, telc C1 Hochschule certificate with an overall of ausreichend or higher, TestDaF certificate in ALL subsections to level TDN 4 or higher, Zentrale Oberstufenpr fung ZOP certificate from the Goethe Institute, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom and/or Gro es Deutsches Sprachdiplom, Successful completion of the Studienkolleg assessment test
