Program Overview

Despite the discussions about Turkey's accession to the EU, the country is one of the most important partners of European countries. The International Master Program Turkology deals with research questions on the Ottoman Empire, Turkey and other Turkic regions and states. Focus areas are history, culture, religion and contemporary history. For this, primary sources in Ottoman, Turkish or another Turkic language are analyzed, interpreted and critically classified. After completing the master's degree, students are sure to master the target language as well as the historical and philological methods of the subject. The modules of the program are closely related to current research projects and scientific publications of the field of Turkology.

Completion of a BA program in an Orientalist subject of a German or foreign university, Proof of language skills in Turkish, Arabic or Persian knowledge or knowledge of another relevant language from the target region,Knowledge of other European scientific languages, CV, Transcript of records, TOEFL ibT of 92, C1 Advanced of 180 , letter of motivation, English skills , IELTS of 6.5
