Program Overview

The course consists of three main areas with the following designations: literary studies, linguistics and medieval studies, from which one must be chosen. Each focus consists of four modules: a specialization module in the first semester, a supplementary module in the first and second semester, a second specialization in the respective specialization in the second semester and a specialization module in the third semester. The fourth semester is reserved for the master's thesis.

Additional Information & Requirements

Bachelors program at the University of Duisburg-Essen, or an equivalent or comparable degree in the field of German Studies or Linguistics depending on the chosen focus of the Master's German Studies, overall grade of the degree must usually be at least 2.5 or better, a relevant course of study lasting at least three years with a first professional qualification and a total workload of at least 180 credits in the field of German studies or linguistics at another university within the scope of the Higher Education Framework Act or a relevant degree from another university outside the scope of the Higher Education Framework Act, unless a significant difference in quality to a degree from a university within the scope of the Higher Education Framework Act can be proven, citizens of a non-EU country with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the German language test for university entrance before beginning their studies, DSH 2 level or the TestDaF TDN 4.
