Program Overview

The master's degree in German-language literatures deals with German-language literatures in their entirety - from the early Middle Ages to the most recent present. Students analyze literary texts in their respective cultural, social and aesthetic contexts and are based on current media and cultural studies issues. These are complemented by established literary scientific parameters such as genre questions, literary theory or social and scientific history. A special feature of the degree program is the choice of a study profile in the field of Older German Literature , Modern German Literature or in one of the interdisciplinary research fields Theater and Media , Gender and Culture or Intercultural Literature and Media Studies .
