Students are, moreover, given the opportunity at a very early stage to put themselves and their work to the test -- e.g. in the MaRS research colloquium -- and to forge links by participating in various events that are also attended by MaRS teaching staff (e.g. workshops, conferences); later, they are given the opportunity to gain further academic qualifications, e.g. by writing a doctoral thesis.
