History - Master of Arts

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

Osnabrueck University

Program Overview

"The focus of the subject history lies in the in-depth study of the text, image, sound and material sources in the tradition of the epochs from antiquity to the present. In addition, it is about a critical examination of different research approaches and an intensive reflection on basic categories of historical science such as time, space and gender in political, legal, social, economic and cultural contexts. The research projects and events in the specialist master's program are based on questions about space and the idea of ""Europe"" in its global interdependencies, centers and peripheries, borders and dissolution of boundaries. The aim of the course is to grasp continuities and breaks in the historical development of Europe as the basis of today's connections and to sharpen the awareness of the dependence of the present on the past to shape the future. The Department of History at the University of Osnabr ck, with a professorship each for the history of antiquity, provincial archaeology, the Middle Ages, the early modern period, recent history and historical migration research, as well as history didactics, enables a degree in a wide range of topics and methods."
