Program Overview

The Master of Art and Design Science is offered jointly by the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Folkwang University of the Arts. Studying takes place both on the Essen campus of the UDE and on the World Heritage Zollverein campus of the Folkwang University of the Arts. The special thing about this course is that the students benefit from the skills of the university and the art school. This master's degree, in which art and design science enter into a dialogue, is unique in the German-speaking world.

Additional Information & Requirements

Bachelors degree in art science or a Bachelors degree with a teaching option teaching subject art at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Bachelors degree in industrial design, communication design or photography at the Folkwang University of the Arts or a Bachelors degree of at least three years Relevant university studies in the fields of design, art science, art history or art education or related subjects arts, social sciences and humanities as well as degrees in comparable courses of national and international universities, provided that the examination board has determined equivalence, General letter of application, Letter of motivation, CV, Certificate of completion certified copy, written elaboration, proof of knowledge of the German language, foreign higher education entrance qualification must pass the German language test for higher education DSH 2 level or the TestDaF TDN 4 before starting their studies
