Program Overview

In the two-subject Master's program with the subject Philosophy, the students acquire specialist knowledge, skills and methods in the science of philosophy at a high academic level. The students will be able to describe, explain and critically evaluate philosophical problems and solutions in their historical genesis and systematic differentiation at the academic level of the subject. In doing so, they reach the current state of scientific research and are able to develop independent answers to classic and current questions in the respective philosophical sub-disciplines in discourse or the confident examination of the specialist literature.

Bachelors degree at the University of Duisburg-Essen or an equivalent or comparable degree in the field of philosophy, overall grade of the degree according to Clause 1 must generally be at least 2.50 or better, Proficiency in English Language Requirements: TOEFL pBT min 500 points, cBT min 200 points, or iBT, min 80 points, IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0, Cambridge B2 First Certificate, formerly known as Cambridge English: First FCE, Foreign applicants are required to provide evidence of German proficiency to DSH 2 level, evidence of your proficiency in German:German language test for entrance to higher education with an overall level of at least DSH 2, German language diploma level II of the KMK Standing Conference DSD II, telc C1 Hochschule certificate with an overall of ausreichend or higher, TestDaF certificate in ALL subsections to level TDN 4 or higher, Zentrale Oberstufenpr fung ZOP certificate from the Goethe Institute, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom and/or Gro es Deutsches Sprachdiplom, Successful completion of the Studienkolleg assessment test
