This background has brought forth the actuarial profession in Germany. Actuaries are experts in the assessment and management of financial risks (e.g. for insurances, banks and building societies/home loan banks [Bausparkassen] or in company pension schemes).

A Bachelor degree with an overall grade of 2.7 or better; If the Bachelor degree has not been obtained yet by examination: achievement of at least 140 credits with 2.7 as minimum average grade.Statement of objectives/motivation (maximum 1 page). Curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages), DSH 2 or DSH 3 for Applicants who have not obtained their qualification at a German university have to prove the required knowledge of German.
