"The master's degree in ""Islamic Theology"" follows on from the bachelor's degree of the same name and offers interested students an academic deepening of the skills and knowledge they acquired in the bachelor's degree.In principle, the master's program provides a choice between two specialist orientations: The theological perspective offers academic specialization in the classic core disciplines of dogmatics, philosophy, Sufism, Islamic law as well as Koran and Hadith studies. As an alternative, a dedicated community education and pastoral deepening is offered. This offers the opportunity to pursue urgent questions about the connection between theory and practice in the everyday life of believers.Both directions also enable the acquisition of specific religious-sociological skills and are supplemented by an extensive compulsory elective component from relevant reference disciplines. It is possible to take courses at the institutes for Catholic and Protestant theology as well as the Institute for Migration and International Studies ( IMIS ).The initiation of own research questions and focal points is developed and supervised through specific events. In their thesis, students with a focus on community education examine theoretical knowledge for its practical effectiveness. Students with a theological focus deepen their skills in scientific work in a research colloquium.During their studies, students majoring in "Community Education and Pastoral Care" must complete an internship (60 hours of internship time). Religious institutions, but also social or cultural institutions in Germany are ideal for this."
