Program Overview

As an empirical cultural science, folklore / cultural anthropology focuses on the analysis of everyday cultural phenomena and practices in their historical and social dimensions. It aims to analyze contemporary societies, focusing on cultural processes and everyday life models. The master's program is a research-oriented degree program that familiarizes students with current fields of research and discussions in the field and leads them to independent scientific work. Following the principle of research-based learning, the master's program on the two-semester research seminar is integrated in current research projects of the institute and offers the opportunity to gain experience with cooperation partners in Germany and abroad.
