Program Overview

The Master's Degree Program in Sign Language Interpretation serves to qualify sign language interpreters for the areas of court interpreting and conference interpreting. The study takes into account the high and growing expectations placed on the profession. Both the necessary working techniques and the theoretical foundations are acquired during the study. On the basis of a discussion of the specific language use in court, the proceedings in preliminary proceedings as well as the linguistic features of lectures in both working languages, the practical interpreting competence is acquired for use in court and at conferences. The profile area offers the opportunity to gain in-house research experience in this young discipline.
