Interdisciplinary perspectives on the social, from the interpersonal to the global, With the Master's degree in Theory of the Social, the University of Duisburg-Essen is responding to the growing need to examine current key social issues with interdisciplinary scientific approaches. The aim of the course is to gain an integrative understanding, ie an understanding that combines sociology and philosophy, of phenomena that are central to the social way of life of human beings

Bachelors degree or the subject of philosophy in the Bachelors degree with the teaching option for grammar schools and comprehensive schools or the Bachelors degree in sociology or one in accordance with 63a paragraph 1 HG-equivalent degree from another university in Germany or abroad, Minimum grade: 2.5, Proficiency in English Language Requirements: TOEFL pBT min 500 points, cBT min 200 points, or iBT, min 80 points, IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0, Cambridge B2 First Certificate, formerly known as Cambridge English: First FCE, Foreign applicants are required to provide evidence of German proficiency to DSH 2 level, evidence of your proficiency in German:German language test for entrance to higher education with an overall level of at least DSH 2, German language diploma level II of the KMK Standing Conference DSD II, telc C1 Hochschule certificate with an overall of ausreichend or higher, TestDaF certificate in ALL subsections to level TDN 4 or higher, Zentrale Oberstufenpr fung ZOP certificate from the Goethe Institute, Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom and/or Gro es Deutsches Sprachdiplom, Successful completion of the Studienkolleg assessment test
