Program Overview

The Master's Degree Program in Political Science is offered in cooperation with the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the Faculty of Law and combines the internal and non-university strengths of political science in Hamburg in Comparative Politics, International Politics, Regional Studies and Political Theory. The focus in the core curriculum and in both specializations are complex problems of governance within (regional, subnational, national) as well as beyond states (supra, trans, and international level), which are handled theoretically, empirically and practically by the students , A research module offers students space for individual research under the qualified guidance of professors.

A first professional qualifying university degree in political science or in a degree program with a focus on political science or social sciences, have sufficient knowledge of the English language in order to actively participate in English language courses, to understand English language literature and to provide academic input in oral and written form (including examinations), Knowledge in the methods of empirical social research, CV, Transcript of records, TOEFL ibT of 92, C1 Advanced of 180 , letter of motivation, English skills , IELTS of 6.5
