1 Year On Campus Masters Program

Trinity College Dublin TCD

Program Overview

The MSc in Interactive Digital Media at Trinity College Dublin is a one‑year, full‑time program designed to blend creativity with technical expertise, preparing graduates to design and develop cutting‑edge digital applications. It suits students from diverse backgrounds — whether in computer science, design, media, or the arts — who want to advance into careers in digital media, app development, web design, or creative technology.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Semester 1 (September–December):
Students begin with Programming for Digital Media and Authoring for Digital Media, gaining both foundational coding skills and creative authoring techniques. Alongside this, Contextual Media introduces the theoretical frameworks of digital culture, helping students understand how media technologies shape communication and design.

Year 1 – Semester 2 (January–April):
The focus shifts to advanced technical and creative modules such as Audio, Video and Sensor Technologies and Visual Computing and Design. These courses train students to capture, process, and present multimedia content while exploring interactive design principles. Students also prepare their Research Paper proposal, laying the groundwork for independent inquiry.

Summer Project (May–August):
After coursework and exams, students collaborate on a Final Project, applying everything learned to a real‑world challenge. This group project integrates programming, design, and media production, while each student also submits a 12,000‑word minor research dissertation, demonstrating their ability to conduct rigorous academic and applied research.
