Program Overview

Based in the Trinity Centre for Global Health, an interdisciplinary centre co-located across the Schools of Psychology and Medicine, the Masters in Global Mental Health is a one-year full-time (or two-year part-time) taught programme offering an in-depth, critical exploration of global mental health.The course covers a range of cognate topics, including inequalities in the prevalence and development of a broad range of mental health difficulties; social determinants of mental health and wellbeing; a focus on context and culture; the accessibility and acceptability of evidence-based interventions; and international and national mental health systems, focused on humanitarian and emergency settings. Students enrolled on the MSc Global Mental Health will receive extensive theoretical and practical training on programming within Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), delivered in collaboration with international and non-governmental humanitarian organisations. Students will also receive advanced training in global mental health research, including qualitative and quantitative methodologies, as well as research ethics.
