Program Overview

With the program Writing and Translation (English-Dutch) we train you as a translator or writer who can draw on linguistic and text-scientific knowledge about the differences between English and Dutch, translation strategies , text strategies, text quality, and text optimization. Moreover, we teach you how to deal with the influence of writing culture and normativity when translating and optimizing texts. In doing so, we pay plenty of attention to practice, so that you are well prepared for the labor market.

A Bachelor s degree from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting to a minimum of 180 EC or equivalent, Curriculum Vitae, 2 Letters of recommendation, Letter of Motivation, Diploma(s), Transcript of records, IELTS: 6.5, TOEFL internet-based test: 92, Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): grade A, B or C, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): grade A, B or C, State Examination Dutch as a second language, programme II (NT2-II), VU-NT2 Department, CNaVT Certificate.
