MUS Urban Research

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of the Witwatersrand

Program Overview

Urban research forms the backbone of evidence-based policy and intervention programmes. It informs robust political and technical debates about policy directions. Urban research, when reported through the media, also shapes public opinion, contributing to breaking down prejudices, discrimination and inequality. Urban research can also support important normative approaches which, if adopted, may turn the tide of urban exploitation. Inevitably interdisciplinary, urban research at various scales helps us bridge disciplines and sectors as well as artificial geographic boundaries.
