Companies play a fundamental role in the economy of a country, constituting the engine of its economic growth, and contributing to the generation of employment. In this context, business finance is the part of the economy that focuses on investment decision making (identification of investment opportunities and analysis of their economic viability, usually in terms of profitability), and on how to obtain resources financial resources that companies need for their financing, either generated from within the company itself (and therefore linked to the dividend policy) or from third parties external to it (related to the indebtedness policy). The fundamental objective of business finance is to maximize the value of the business to its owners in a sustainable way.
