Masters in Genetics and Cell Biology (joint with UAM and UAH)

1 Years On Campus Masters Program

Complutense University of Madrid UCM

Program Overview

The Master in Genetics and Cell Biology, taught by the Autonomous Universities (UAM), Complutense (UCM) and Alcal (UAH), is offered based on the enormous development that Genetics and Cell Biology have had in recent years. Current knowledge in Genetics allows us to understand the functioning of the genes that control and contribute to the development and individuality of organisms. By combining this knowledge with others in Cell Biology, we can explore its scientific applications to use them for the benefit of the whole of society. The most prominent application that derives from the knowledge of the genetic bases of life is the opening of new fields for the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In parallel, advances in Cell Biology are allowing, among other findings, the characterization of the growth factors that determine the differentiation of stem cells to specialized types. A direct consequence of this advance in the areas mentioned above is the progress that is being made in the development and production of new therapeutic approaches.
