The globalization of production and consumption has led to a situation where logistics decision makers must constantly strive to deal with the complex challenges associated with internationally distributed production, trade and transport networks. In order to ensure and maintain both profitability and competitiveness, organizations need to constantly review their logistical requirements in order to adapt to potentially volatile changes in customer demand and technological developments.
