The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences was established in 1968 under the name of Home Administration and Family Economics under the roof of the School of Home Economics of Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences. The name of the department changed to Home Economics in 1999 and Family and Consumer Sciences in 2005 and in 2006 it was connected to Hacettepe University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
