Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

What makes the MArch Architecture at Leeds Beckett stand out is how much you learn by doing. You won’t just talk about architecture — you’ll design, model, experiment and build your ideas in spaces that feel like a real practice. From day one, you’ll work in studio environments, learn from frequent design critiques and use professional tools that help you bring your projects to life.

And here’s what that hands-on learning includes:

  • Dedicated architecture studios and workshop spaces, where you’ll sketch, build models, develop drawings and test different design ideas.

  • Access to industry-standard digital design software, allowing you to develop 3D visualisations, technical drawings and detailed computational design work.

  • A collaborative studio culture, where you’ll work closely with classmates and tutors on design briefs, crits and group discussions — just like in professional practice.

  • Design projects grounded in real-world themes, including sustainability, environmental design and contemporary urban challenges, helping you build a socially and professionally relevant portfolio.

  • Opportunities to make use of environmental and landscape-focused resources, especially if your design projects explore outdoor, ecological or place-making aspects.

This practical, studio-immersive approach builds the confidence and professional awareness employers expect — and gives you a portfolio that truly represents your design talent.
