Program Overview

The MA Architecture and Urbanism is a one-year master’s that helps you understand how cities really function — socially, culturally, environmentally and economically — and gives you the tools to shape their future. It’s ideal for students who care about urban quality of life, sustainable development and the design of places that support people and communities.

Curriculum structure

Early stage
You’ll build a strong foundation in how cities evolve through modules such as Urban Strategies and Cities and Urbanism, exploring the forces that influence urban form and everyday life. This stage gives you the analytical skills to look beyond buildings and understand the city as a complex system.

Development stage
Through Research Skills and Architectural Tactics, you’ll learn how to investigate urban challenges, work with data and precedents, and test design responses in a thoughtful and evidence-based way.

Final stage
You’ll bring everything together in a major project through Design Synthesis and a Dissertation or Research Project, where you’ll define an urban issue you care about and develop a complete design or research-led proposal — a standout piece for your professional portfolio.

Professional alignment (accreditation)
