This course equips you with an understanding of naval architecture and its practical application. You will gain knowledge in ship design, hydrodynamic performance, ship production and structures. Our teaching is by lectures, practical sessions, seminars and personal supervision. It uses expert staff based in the School of Engineering. You choose from a variety of naval architecture related topics for your dissertation using the research strengths of the School. More diverse subjects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You also benefit from taking part in projects sponsored directly by industry partners whenever they are available.
A 2:2 honours degree, or international equivalent, in: naval architecture, marine technology/engineering, offshore engineering, mechanical engineering, related disciplines. IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub-skills).
