Curriculum Structure / What You Study
Core Modules & Practical Skills:
You’ll take units like Multimedia Reporting Skills, which teaches you how to research, write, and report stories for web, radio, and TV with journalistic rigour.
In Digital Journalism, you’ll explore digital formats, content production for multiplatform publishing, and get hands-on experience collaborating in multimedia teams.
There’s also a Legal & Ethical Context module, where you dive into media law, regulation, and journalistic ethics. Journalism in Global Contexts covers journalism’s role in different parts of the world, exploring the political, social, and cultural impacts of reporting.
Finally, you’ll work on a Journalism Project, which is a major piece of individual work where you can focus on a specialism, produce a big story, or do a research-driven journalistic piece.
Placement / Industry Experience:
A compulsory placement of at least 10 days (or 3 weeks in some sources) is built into the course — you’ll work with a real news organisation to bring your academic skills into professional practice.

Alternate: 16 months full-time for January start.

A Bachelor’s Honours degree (2:2 or above) in any subject is acceptable.
For non-native English speakers: IELTS (Academic) 7.0, with minimums of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in other skills.
