Curriculum Structure

Term 1 – Establishing Your Creative Direction

Your year begins with Design Thinking, where you’ll learn how to investigate problems, test ideas, prototype, and build a research-led design approach. Alongside this, Design Studio 1 lets you explore where you want to position yourself as a designer — through hands-on projects that encourage you to experiment with materials, forms, and real-world spatial challenges.

Term 2 – Development, Detail & Experimentation

In Design Studio 2, you’ll refine the concepts you started earlier in the year. This is where your ideas get richer: you’ll make physical or digital prototypes, test materials in the workshops, and develop your project’s narrative, scale, and atmosphere. It’s a space to stretch your curiosity and discover what your practice can become.

Term 3 – Major Project & Critical Thinking

Everything comes together in Design Studio 3, where you create a final major project that reflects your design voice. You’ll pair this with Art & Design: Culture & Context (MA:X), a module that helps you understand the broader cultural, social, and architectural conversations shaping interiors today — and how your work fits into them.
