Business Analytics MSc

12 Months On Campus Masters Program

University of Glasgow

Program Overview

The MSc Business Analytics at the University of Glasgow is designed for students who want to turn data into confident business decisions. You’ll gain practical analytics skills while learning how organisations actually use data to improve performance, strategy, and competitiveness across industries.

Curriculum Structure

Year of Study (12 months full-time)

In the first part of the programme, you’ll develop strong technical and analytical foundations through modules such as Programming in Business Analytics, where you build coding skills for real business problems, and Business Intelligence Practice, which focuses on turning complex data into clear insights for decision-makers. You’ll also study Data Management and Engineering, helping you understand how business data is stored, processed, and prepared for analysis, alongside Data Science and Machine Learning in Finance, where predictive techniques are applied to financial data.

As you move into the second stage, the programme becomes more flexible, allowing you to tailor your learning through optional modules like Data Science for Marketing Analytics, Network Analysis, or Systems Thinking and Simulation for Performance Improvement. These modules deepen your analytical thinking and show how advanced models support strategic planning and operational improvement in real organisations.

In the final phase, you complete the Applied Project in Business Analytics, bringing together everything you’ve learned across the year. This project gives you the chance to work on a substantial, practice-focused analytics challenge, demonstrating your ability to analyse data, generate insights, and communicate results clearly—skills highly valued by employers.
