MSc International Business Management

1 Years On Campus Masters Program

Buckinghamshire New University

Program Overview

If you’re aiming to build a career in global business, this MSc is a perfect springboard. It gives you the tools to understand how international companies operate — from finance and marketing to HR and operations — while preparing you to think strategically, make decisions, and even start your own business.

Curriculum structure

  • Year 1 (full-time, one year)
In this one-year program, you’ll dive into the core aspects of international business. Modules like Sustainable Business Strategy will help you see the bigger picture of how companies plan for long-term success. International Management in Finance and Accounting gives you confidence in handling financial decision-making across borders, while International Logistics and Operations introduces you to the fast-moving world of global supply chains and operations.

Alongside these, you’ll explore Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing, learning how new businesses grow and succeed internationally, and Global HR for Competitive Advantage, where you’ll see how HR strategies differ around the world. Plus, Digital Marketing and Data Analytics in International Business equips you with modern digital skills to reach global markets effectively.

To finish your MSc, you’ll choose between a real-world project (Independent Professional Project), a work placement to gain hands-on experience, or a business consultancy project that puts you straight into problem-solving for companies.

Focus areas

Global strategy, international finance, cross-border operations, HR management, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and real-world business projects.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this MSc, you’ll be able to understand international business challenges, make strategic decisions, apply finance and HR knowledge globally, and confidently lead or consult in multinational environments. You’ll also develop a strong entrepreneurial mindset and digital skills that employers value.

Professional alignment (accreditation)

The course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), meaning you can earn a professional Level 7 management qualification alongside your MSc — a real boost for your career credentials.

Reputation (employability rankings)

While the program doesn’t have a specific ranking in QS or Guardian league tables, BNU focuses on practical, real-world learning. With strong industry links, networking opportunities, and the option for placements or live projects, graduates leave well-prepared for careers in global business.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

At BNU, you won’t just sit in lectures — you’ll be actively building the skills and experience that employers are looking for. This MSc is designed so you can put theory into practice, work on real-world business challenges, and gain insights from professionals who are working in international business today. You’ll also have access to excellent resources, personal tutors, and digital tools to support every step of your learning journey.

Here’s how you’ll get hands-on experience throughout the program:

  • Real-world projects and placements: You can choose to do an Independent Professional Project, a Business Consultancy project for an actual client, or a Work Placement, giving you practical experience in team-based problem-solving and real business environments.

  • Live briefs and industry insights: Guest speakers from international companies, workplace visits, and live business briefs help you see how global businesses operate and make strategic decisions.

  • Interactive workshops and seminars: Instead of just listening to lectures, you’ll take part in case studies, workshops, and group discussions — the same way business problems are tackled in the real world.

  • Digital and library resources: You’ll have access to BNU’s libraries, online databases, and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), so you can research, collaborate, and work on assignments anytime, anywhere.

  • Career support and networking: Through alumni events, recruitment fairs, and industry connections, you’ll get opportunities to meet potential employers, build your professional network, and receive guidance on your career path.

At BNU, experiential learning isn’t an add-on — it’s built into the MSc so that when you graduate, you’re confident, skilled, and ready to step into an international business role.
