Business with Marketing (MSc)

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of Warwick

Program Overview

Warwick’s MSc Business with Marketing is perfect if you want strong business foundations while building specialist marketing expertise. Over one year, you’ll learn how modern businesses operate and how effective marketing, branding, and strategy drive real commercial results.

Curriculum Structure

Year of Study (taught across one academic year):
You’ll begin with core business modules like Foundations of Financial & Management Accounting and Fundamentals of Economic Behaviour to help you understand how organisations make decisions and how markets function. As you progress, you’ll dive into specialist marketing modules such as Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Global Branding, and Services Marketing, where you learn how to shape marketing strategy, analyse consumer behaviour, and build brands across international markets.

In the later part of the year, you can tailor your learning through optional modules — for example Digital Marketing Technology & Management, Marketing Analytics, Big Data Analytics, or Behavioural Economics — depending on what direction you want to take your career. You’ll then finish with either a dissertation (if you enjoy research) or the Business in Practice project, which lets you apply everything in a hands-on, practical business environment.

Focus areas: marketing strategy, global branding, consumer behaviour, financial and management accounting, business economics, digital marketing, analytics, business practice

Learning outcomes: graduates gain a strong understanding of business fundamentals while being able to design marketing strategies, manage and grow brands, interpret consumer and market behaviour, and apply analytical and data-driven marketing tools confidently

Professional alignment (accreditation): Delivered by Warwick Business School, a globally respected school known for close links with industry and employers, giving you relevant, career-ready marketing and business skills.

Reputation (employability rankings): Warwick is consistently ranked among the UK’s top universities, and WBS is one of the most sought-after by major employers (5th most-targeted university by top UK employers in The Graduate Market Report 2023).

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

At Warwick Business School, the MSc Business with Marketing is designed to make you learn by doing. Instead of just sitting in lectures, you’ll work in modern WBS study spaces, collaborate with classmates on real business-style projects, and use digital learning tools that mirror what global organisations use daily. If you choose the Business in Practice pathway, you’ll finish the year by applying your marketing and business knowledge to a practical, hands-on project that feels much closer to a real job than a traditional academic assignment.

Students are supported with dedicated learning environments, industry-informed teaching, and access to online platforms that make it easy to revisit content, join live sessions, or prepare for group tasks. You’ll get to experience marketing not just as a theory, but as something you actively test, present, and apply. Here’s how this plays out in practice:

  • Postgraduate Learning Space & IT Suite — a WBS-only area designed for postgraduate students to study, collaborate, and work on group marketing projects.

  • my.wbs online platform + wbsLive — your hub for lecture recordings, webinars, interactive sessions, readings, and all course materials, helping you revisit content or prepare for assessments anytime.

  • Guest lectures and applied teaching — throughout the programme, practitioners and industry speakers join select modules, giving you insight into real marketing challenges.

  • Group projects and presentations — many modules include teamwork, so you’ll practise pitching ideas, analysing consumer behaviour, and designing marketing strategies with classmates from around the world.

  • Business in Practice (capstone option) — an alternative to the dissertation where you tackle a practical business challenge, applying marketing and strategic skills in a simulated professional environment.

  • Optional language classes — free beginner-level evening language courses in Terms One and Two to help strengthen your global business profile.

  • CareersPlus support — one-on-one career coaching, CV reviews, interview prep, and employer events tailored to business and marketing students.
