MSc Management

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

Oxford Brookes University

Program Overview

The MSc Management at Oxford Brookes is designed to help you build a strong, practical understanding of how organisations function and how effective managers lead people, projects and change. It’s a great fit if you want a flexible, career-focused master’s that develops your leadership skills while giving you a broad foundation in the key areas of modern management.

Curriculum Structure

Your Learning Journey

Because this is a one-year master’s (or two years if you add the placement), the course takes you through a focused progression of skills and knowledge that prepare you for management roles across different sectors. Early on, you explore modules such as Employee Engagement, Performance and Reward, which helps you understand how organisations motivate people and build effective teams. You also take Developing Skills for Leadership and Employability, where you strengthen your communication, teamwork and self-leadership skills, and Learning, Development and Coaching, giving you insight into how people grow and perform in the workplace.

As you progress, the programme broadens into more strategic themes. In Organisational Behaviour, Leadership and Change, you explore how organisations function and how managers guide teams through periods of transformation. Project Management gives you hands-on experience with planning, managing and delivering projects — a core skill for any manager. You also study Managing International Organisations, where you look at how organisations operate globally. Finally, you complete Research Methods and a major Final Research Project, allowing you to investigate a business issue that interests you and apply your learning in a focused, meaningful way.

Focus Areas

“Leadership and employability, employee engagement and performance, organisational behaviour and change, project management, global organisational contexts, and applied research.”

Professional Alignment (Accreditation)

The MSc is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which means you earn both a respected academic qualification and a professional management credential — a combination that adds long-term value to your degree and stands out to employers.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The MSc Management at Oxford Brookes is built around learning by doing. You won’t just study management theories — you’ll practise them, test them, and see how they work in real organisations. • Optional work placement, giving you the chance to gain genuine professional experience while completing your degree. You’ll be supported with interview preparation, CV building and employer connections throughout the process.

  • International study trip opportunities, offering you the chance to explore how management practices vary across cultures and to meet professionals and business leaders in a global setting.

  • Guest speakers from industry, who bring real-world insight into the classroom, helping you understand how managers handle challenges in today’s fast-moving business environment.

  • Access to study spaces, libraries and specialist business facilities, giving you a professional setting to collaborate on projects, conduct research and prepare for your final project.
