MA Management

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of Westminster

Program Overview

The Management MA at the University of Westminster gives you a broad, practical introduction to the key areas of modern management, helping you build the confidence to lead, analyse and make decisions in today’s fast-changing business world. It’s ideal for graduates from any background who want to understand how organisations operate and develop strong skills in people management, strategy, finance and digital business.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 (Foundation & Core Management Skills)
You begin the course by exploring the fundamentals of how businesses work and how managers respond to the environments around them. In Analysing the Business Environment, you’ll learn how economic, social and competitive forces shape organisational choices, while Financial Analysis for Managers strengthens your ability to interpret financial information and use it to support strategic decisions. Alongside these, Human Resource Management helps you understand how people are developed, motivated and supported within organisations.

Year 1 (Integration, Leadership & Strategy)
As the programme progresses, your learning becomes more focused on leadership and strategic thinking. Leadership in Effective Organisations introduces you to the behaviours and practices that shape productive workplace cultures, and Managing Operations and Information in the Digital Age offers insight into the systems and processes that keep organisations running efficiently. You’ll also study Marketing for the Digital Manager, where you explore how digital tools and customer insights inform modern marketing decisions. The year concludes with a substantial Project and a Strategic Management module, giving you the chance to bring all your learning together by analysing real organisational challenges and presenting your own strategic recommendations.

Focus areas: Business environment analysis, financial decision-making, human resource management, leadership, digital operations, marketing for managers, strategic management, applied project work.

Learning outcomes: You will graduate ready to analyse organisational issues from multiple perspectives, apply leadership and analytical skills to real business scenarios, and communicate clear, confident solutions.

Professional alignment (accreditation): Delivered by Westminster Business School, the programme reflects strong employer expectations and focuses on the practical, applied nature of modern management roles.

Reputation (employability rankings): Based in central London, Westminster offers excellent proximity to industry and a strong employability record, with graduates progressing into roles across major private, public and not-for-profit organisations in the UK and internationally.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Experiential learning is a core part of the Management MA, and you’ll feel it from the moment the course begins. Instead of simply studying theories, you’ll work with classmates on real management tasks, practise decision-making, and build confidence through hands-on activities that mirror the challenges managers face every day. Because the University is located in the heart of London, you’ll also benefit from a vibrant environment filled with business links, visiting speakers and opportunities to apply your learning in a professional context.

Here’s how the programme helps you develop strong, practical management skills:

  • A dedicated Management Residential weekend, where you take part in group workshops and presentations designed to strengthen your leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

  • Use of professional analytical tools, including software such as SPSS and NVivo, giving you practical experience with the kinds of data analysis methods used in real organisations.

  • A substantial individual Project, allowing you to investigate a management issue that interests you and apply the theories and frameworks you've studied to a real-world challenge.

  • Opportunities for internships and work experience, supported by the University’s placements and internships team, helping you gain hands-on insight into how organisations operate.

  • Access to excellent study facilities, including modern learning spaces, libraries, and digital platforms that support group projects, research and independent study.
