MSc Information Systems Management

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

De Montfort University

Program Overview

The MSc in Information Systems Management provides training in how information systems are designed, deployed and managed to support organisational strategy and digital transformation. It suits students from computing, business or related backgrounds who want careers in IT management, systems analysis or digital-transformation roles.

Curriculum Structure (Full-time, 1 Year)

Year of Study

Students begin with Business Analysis & Modelling, where they learn to examine business requirements, design data models, and understand database concepts such as security, privacy, concurrency and recovery. They progress to Enterprise Architecture, gaining skills in how IT systems, software structures and networks align with organisational goals and support large-scale digital transformation. In Digital Transformation, they study how businesses adopt new technologies, manage organisational change, and integrate information systems into strategic decision-making and innovation. The year concludes with Human Factors, Research and Skills, which develops understanding of usability, user interaction, ethics and communication — along with the research skills required for effective information-systems practice.

Focus areas: “Business analysis, enterprise architecture, digital transformation, information-systems design, human factors and usability”

Learning outcomes: “Model business and data requirements; design enterprise-level IT architectures; lead or support digital transformation initiatives; evaluate human and ethical considerations in system design; apply research and professional skills in information-systems contexts.”

Professional alignment (accreditation): Delivered at Master’s level and designed to prepare graduates for managerial or analytical roles in information systems.

Reputation (employability rankings): The university is well regarded for computing and IT-related teaching, and graduates from this programme progress into roles in systems analysis, IT management, consultancy and digital-transformation leadership.
