Program Overview

The MSc Cyber Security at LJMU is a one-year full-time programme for graduates with computing or related experience who want to specialise in protecting systems, networks, and digital information. Students will study topics such as ethical hacking, risk & information security management, network & system security, backed by a research-based dissertation. 


Curriculum Structure:
You begin with modules like Computer Security and Network Security, giving you an understanding of threat models, vulnerabilities, and defence mechanisms.  You also take Information Security Management and Ethical Hacking, which deepen knowledge of risk frameworks (e.g. ISO-27001), penetration testing, and tools for detecting and responding to threats. The Project Dissertation allows you to apply your learning in a major investigative project, combining theory and hands-on practice to solve a real-world cybersecurity problem.
