Digital animation is responsible for captivating special effects in today's most beloved movies and TV shows, while 3D design is essential in numerous areas such as computer game development, online virtual world creation, industrial design, marketing, product design, and architecture.
GCU offers a program called "3D Design for Virtual Environments" that focuses on helping students develop the necessary skills for a successful career as a visual designer. This program is practical and career-oriented, aligning with the current needs, technology, and practices of the industry. Prior knowledge of 3D design is not required.
The curriculum is designed to enhance your creative vision and technical abilities as a 3D designer. It covers various aspects, including the use of video and animation in digital video, multimedia, and web publishing. You will have the opportunity to experiment with different interactive media types and techniques, sharpen your creative thinking and idea generation skills, and master digital video production and integration techniques. Additionally, you will learn pre-production skills such as planning, storyboarding, and conceptualizing, as well as production skills like 3D modeling, animation, lighting, and rendering. The program also focuses on post-production skills, including video editing and the integration of 2D and 3D visuals. Throughout the program, you will work with cutting-edge computer applications and digital environments.

The minimum academic requirement for this program is a 2:2 UK honors degree or its equivalent. For the September 2022 intake, international/EU applicants without pre-settled status are no longer eligible to apply. However, the program is still accepting applications from the UK and Republic of Ireland for the same intake. To demonstrate English language proficiency, a minimum Academic IELTS score of 6.0 or an equivalent score is required. Additionally, no individual element of the IELTS score should be below 5.5.
