University of Edinburgh

Program Overview

History is a perfect partner for classics, the study of the languages, history, and literatures of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Knowledge of and enquiry into the ancient world was vitally important in later periods of history, and knowledge of the classical world is an important tool for historians of all periods, places and themes. In history courses cover historical periods from the early Middle Ages to the most recent past; geographical regions including Britain and Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas; and a wide variety of approaches to the past, including political history, cultural history, social history, economic history, gender history, and global and transnational history.
