This interdisciplinary programme will allow you to acquire an in-depth understanding of how risks from natural hazards materialise and affect societies globally and to develop conceptual and analytical skills to assess and propose innovative solutions. The programme is delivered through a mixture of approaches including lectures, seminars, field classes and experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to undertake a work placement with a wide range of organisations and apply theoretical and practical skills developed throughout the core courses.
A 2:1 Honours Degree or equivalent in Geography (both physical and human), Environmental Science/Studies, Water Science or Engineering, Geoscience, Geology, Hydrology, Energy & Environment, Natural Resource Management, Disaster Management/Science and other related subjects (e.g. ecology, forestry, agriculture). Professional experience and 2:2 applicants with a strong subject specific expertise may also be considered. IELTS 6.5 overall with no element less than 6.0 (or equivalent).
