The Strength and Conditioning master's degree is intended for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in sports science, sports coaching, or a related field and who wish to further their studies and pursue a career in elite athletics.
This program is specifically designed to provide the necessary knowledge and meet the standards required to become a UKSCA Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC). It emphasizes experiential learning through modules like professional enquiry placement, as well as core modules focusing on practical applications in performance training, strength and rehabilitation science, and effective coaching.
The sport and exercise laboratories at the University of Brighton hold accreditation from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). In addition, the campus offers comprehensive fitness and sport facilities, including a gym dedicated to teaching and research purposes.
To be eligible for this program, applicants should possess a science honours degree with a minimum 2:2 classification. Ideally, the degree should be in sport and exercise science. However, degrees in related science-based fields such as medicine, biomedical sciences, physiology, biological science, or health science are also considered relevant. In some cases, applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications may still be considered if they can demonstrate a suitable background and foundational knowledge.
