The MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) is a two-year course designed to provide individuals with a relevant undergraduate qualification an entry pathway into the Physiotherapy profession.
The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with various stakeholders, including service users, carers, students, and Physiotherapy graduates, to ensure it aligns with the expanding and evolving role of Physiotherapy. It places particular emphasis on community, health promotion, and primary care.
This course adopts a blended learning approach, combining online learning with face-to-face teaching. It aims to create an engaging and interactive learning environment that motivates you to become a confident and independent practitioner, equipped with effective communication and teamwork skills for various health and social care settings. The curriculum follows a modular structure, allowing for a progressive and interconnected learning experience, building upon knowledge and skills as you advance through the program and develop expertise.
The program integrates university-led modules with practical learning experiences in diverse settings and simulation placements. This approach encourages advanced scholarly thinking and promotes an evidence-based approach to delivering person-centered care.
Applicants are expected to have obtained a minimum of five GCSEs with a grade C or above, including Mathematics, English Language or Literature, and a Science subject or its equivalent. Additionally, a relevant undergraduate honours degree from a UK institution with a classification of 2:2 or higher, or an equivalent international qualification, is required. Relevant subject areas encompass Biological Sciences, Sport Science, Sports Therapy or Rehabilitation, Chemistry, Nursing, Psychology, and other degrees will be evaluated on an individual basis. Evidence of interest and work experience in a relevant field is essential, and applicants must provide a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. Moreover, applicants are required to undergo health screening to assess their fitness to commence the course and adhere to an approved programme of immunisation, as recommended by the Department of Health. All applicants will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the program. For non-native English speakers who lack a GCSE English qualification or its equivalent with a grade 4/C or above, an IELTS score of at least 6.5 in writing and a minimum score of 7.0 in reading, listening, and speaking, with an overall score of 7.0, is required.
