Curriculum Structure

Year 1 — Core Foundations

In your first year, you will begin with the core module, Theories and Issues in International Political Economy, which provides a deep dive into classic and contemporary approaches to political economy and globalization, exploring how states, markets, and institutions interact globally.
Alongside this, you will choose from specialist optional modules such as Contemporary Challenges in Global Economic Governance, The Global Food System, or Issues and Cases in the Politics of International Trade, allowing you to focus on areas like trade policy, economic development, or global finance.
Throughout the year, seminars, debates, and research projects will sharpen your analytical and communication skills, culminating in a substantial 10,000-word dissertation showcasing your independent research.

Part-time students follow a similar structure over two years, with seminars and dissertation supervision spread across both years.
