Curriculum Structure

Full-time: 12 months (or part-time: 24 months) – Durham City

In the first term, you will explore The Politics of East Asia, examining domestic politics, foreign policy, and regional power dynamics. Alongside this, Researching the Global South will develop your research skills and cultural understanding, while Europe-China Relations in a Changing World provides practical insight into one of the most consequential bilateral relationships in global politics.

Midway through the program, you can choose optional modules such as International Relations Theory, International Organisations, Global Political Economy, or The Politics of Global Europe to tailor your studies toward your interests and career goals. These options broaden your understanding of global politics and comparative regional dynamics.

In the final phase, you will complete a dissertation, giving you the opportunity to carry out independent, in-depth research on a topic of your choice within East Asian politics or international relations, under expert supervision.
