University of Gloucestershire

Program Overview

The MSc Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire is a one-year conversion programme that gives graduates (from any discipline) the knowledge and skills required for the British Psychological Society’s Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). Students study core areas of psychology, learn rigorous research methods, and complete a dissertation to prepare for careers in professional psychology or further doctoral study.

Curriculum Structure

Over the year, students cover a comprehensive set of psychological topics, build research expertise, and carry out independent research.

In the taught modules, students study Biological & Cognitive Psychology to understand brain-behaviour relationships, Social Psychology to explore how individuals interact and are influenced, and Individual Differences to examine personality, intelligence and variability.  They also study Human Development, tracing psychological growth and change across the lifespan. Alongside these, the Research Methods & Analysis module equips them with skills in experimental design, statistical analysis, and critical evaluation of psychological research.

Finally, students complete an independent Dissertation, designing and executing a research project that integrates theory, method, and their own interests.
