MS program is a flexible program that allows students to specialize in order to further their own career goals. Current students choose a specialization in which they complete in-depth coursework and a research project or thesis. Students are selecting these specializations: community college teaching, gerontology, child life, and child and family services. Graduates of the MS in Human Development and Family Science (MS in HDFS) program work in diverse and rewarding careers as follows: Educational Settings, Child and Family Services, Health Programs.

Students prepare for professional roles in the administration of programs serving children, families, and older adults; in teaching young children; in family life education programming; and in specialized clinical roles in child-life, early intervention, developmental evaluation and other mental health and human service programs. The program also prepares students for advanced studies in doctoral programs.
